Should you buy a Kmart Anko vacuum cleaner? | Choose

For everyone who is willing to do whatever it takes for the vacuum cleaner of their dreams (we know you are there), there is another way to buy it is to buy it completely with a grudge.

If this is you (no absolute judgment here), it may be easy to choose a cheap vacuum cleaner, such as Kmart's own brand Anko model.

As far as Kmart vacuum cleaners are concerned, the news is a bit bad

Although we did like it when we found cheap appliances that really shine, the news is a bit bad for Kmart vacuum cleaners. Their bagless buckets and robotic vacuum cleaners scored the lowest in our laboratory tests, and the performance of the stick vacuum cleaners provided was not much better.

However, if you are attracted by the price tag, please continue reading our expert analysis of the cleaning techniques (or lack of techniques) of each model and whether it is suitable for your home and house cleaning needs.

We have tested to find the best.

The stick vacuum cleaner can be used to quickly clean around the house, or when you are cleaning hard-to-reach places in the car.

This category is dominated by market leaders such as Dyson, but higher-priced models cost about US$700 to US$1,000, and you might want to try your luck with a budget stick.

In the case of Kmart, our experts found that you are worth the money. Its current two-in-one cordless V8260-12A model is priced at $69, and it performs well overall, with only 67% of the CHOICE expert ratings in our laboratory tests.

It has a good rating for cleaning hard floors and pet hair...but struggles badly on carpets

It has a good rating for cleaning hard floors and pet hair, and is very suitable for car cleaning in handheld mode, but struggles severely on the carpet, whether it is a quick cleaning or a long run.

Nevertheless, its price is only one-tenth the price of a big gun, and it is worth considering-it just depends on your floor type and how you feel about running more laps to get the job done.

Kmart Anko cordless vacuum cleaner at $149: It sucks badly.

The butt end of the stick: Kmart's $119 cordless stick cleaner performed the worst in our tests.

Kmart's two latest vacuum cleaner products performed equally well, ranking second to last with scores of 63% and 64% in our vacuum cleaner reviews.

Although the cost is about twice that of the 2-in-1 V8260-12A model, the performance of the Kmart Anko cordless vacuum cleaner ($119) and Kmart Anko cordless vacuum cleaner ($149) is even worse than their cheaper cousins.

Both models do a great job cleaning cars, and the $119 model is also excellent at removing pet hair-so maybe they are useful for cleaning cars after taking Fido to the park. (Although this is a very specific scenario: do you really need to spend $120 for this job?)

However, there is no commendable vacuum cleaner, and you'd better buy a vacuum cleaner that can actually clean your home.

Our products are tested in our CHOICE laboratory in accordance with very strict and strictly controlled standards. Consumers usually agree with our review conclusions, but people may have different experiences when using the product in their own homes.

CHOICE community member Karen said of her Kmart stick vacuum cleaner: “Anko stick vacuum cleaner is very light and relatively easy to use, but it won’t suck anything from our wooden floors or carpets. We will run it back and forth, Then I still see the same fluff on the floor. It is not suitable for sucking dust on hard surfaces, nor for sucking fluff on carpets."

But another vacuum cleaner model from Kmart, the $69 two-in-one cordless vacuum cleaner, left a deep impression on Helen, a member of the CHOICE community: "I can't tell you how much I like it," she said. "It has powerful features and is two gadgets in one-this is the best $69 I have ever spent."

CHOICE expert Matt Tung tests the vacuum cleaner in our laboratory.

In our latest test of more than 40 different models, two Anko bucket vacuum cleaners fell behind the backpack with the lowest CHOICE expert rating.

Although the 2400W SL163E model is the most powerful and expensive Anko we have tested, it has the worst score, with only 60% of it being very ordinary, and the price is $95. The 2200W SL157C model, priced at $69, performed better, with a score of 62%. But it still leaves a lot of dust.

Two Anko vacs ranked last with the lowest overall score

Ironically, our tests found that the cheapest Anko—the 2000W SL153B model—is the best of the mediocre. It only cost $47 and received a 67% CHOICE expert rating-not a good score, but definitely better than its terrible cousin.

Of course, Kmart Anko is not the only company that produces ordinary bucket vacuum cleaners. Vax, Electrolux, Bissell and even Dyson's more expensive models received similar low scores.

Barrel of fun (not): Kmart's 2400W model ranked last in our test.

“We used to test full-size vacuum cleaners on hard floors and carpets,” said Matthew Tung, a testing expert at CHOICE.

"But we are only testing on carpets now, because we found that when used on hard floors, there is not much difference in performance between the models, and they all do a good job."

Choice tips: If you only have wooden floors, tiles or hard surfaces in your home, don't waste your money on expensive buckets or upright vacuum cleaners. A cheaper model might do the job well.

Kmart's M3C-D sweeping robot was released in 2020, but has since disappeared from the shelf. Based on the poor test results in our laboratory, this may be a good thing: the M3C-D device does not really count in terms of cleaning.

Robot vacuum cleaners are terrible at exterminating pet hair, and even worse at conquering carpets

In our laboratory tests on more than 20 popular models, the CHOICE expert rating for this model is only 40%-second only to Kogan's G60 old car (rating 26%).

Of course, Anko is the cheapest robot in the batch, priced at $179. But with such a flat score, the future of your floor does not look bright.

Robot out of control: M3C-D vac scored only 40% in our laboratory test.

Although it can be used on hard floors, our experts found it really difficult to clean corners and edges, and it often gets stuck on objects.

To make matters worse, it is terrible at removing pet hair, and even worse at conquering carpets, scoring 30% and 8% in our personal surface tests, respectively. Such a bad result means that you will clean up later-not the other way around.
